About us

Firstly, let me introduce myself, my name is Karen and I am the owner of  Limetree Therapy. I have over 20 years' experience working closely with children and their parents/guardians having owned and operated a large, well-established childcare facility caring for over 100 children each day, ranging in age from 12 months to 12 years.

I am also a Mam to two children, aged 22 and 17. I hold a BA Degree in Early Years Education, a Postgraduate Certificate in Therapeutic Play, and I am currently in my final year of a Postgraduate Diploma in Play Therapy and also Integrated Adolescent Psychotherapy.

My background in early years education and care and my specialist training in play therapy allow me to support children both emotionally and developmentally. I absolutely love working with children and their families, it isn't just my job, it is truly my passion.

My practice is open, inclusive and affirming of all children and families. I have experience working with: Transgender and gender questioning children and young people and their families, Children who have LGBTQ+ family members and families within the LGBTQ+ community. In the playroom I am respectful with names, pronouns and identities, and I aim to create a space where every child feels seen, respected and safe to explore who they are. I understand that navigating school, friendships, family changes and wider society can be especially complex for transgender and LGBTQ+ children and their families, and I am committed to offering a supportive, non-judgemental space for both children and parents/carers.

Limetree Therapy was created to provide a calm, supportive space where all children feel understood, valued, and safe to explore their feelings at their own pace.

I look forward to welcoming you all,

Karen
